The Orsis T-5000 is a sniper rifle used by the Federal Security Service and the National Guard of the Russian Federation, and by elite units of the Russian Ground Forces. It was developed in 2011 by Promtechnologies Group, which is a private firm based in Moscow. It is also used by security agencies from other countries, such as China, Vietnam, and Belarus. According to the experience from the war in Ukraine, it is a very reliable and precise weapon.
Technical Characteristics
The Orsis T-5000 is a classical bolt-action rifle, whose chamber is fed from a five-round detachable box magazine. It is fitted with a fluted stainless steel barrel, with flash suppressor. The flutes along the barrel serve to increase the thermal dissipation. It has a stainless steel folding stock, with adjustable butt. The rifle is also equipped with a Picatinny rail to fix on optic sights and bipod. It is chambered for different cartridges, such as the .338 Lapua Magnum (8.6-mm), which is a high-powered long range cartridge, and the 7.62×51-mm NATO.
